You don't have to go all the way to New York to get the newest invitation trends for the upcoming year, because we did it for you! The National Stationery Show was held on May 20-23 this year at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. What you see at the stationery show is the newest and most fashionable invitations that set the basics of invitation and accessory style for the coming year.

When attending the National Stationery Show, you get a glimpse of the invitation trends for the coming year. I was also in attendance at the National Stationery Show last year, and the trends that I saw carried through the newest invitations featured on InvitationConsultants.com. The styles shown at the National Stationery Show are not just carried out in invitations and stationery in the coming year. They are styles that tend to stick around for years to come.

Here are some noticeable trends that you will surely be seeing more of in the coming year:

  • Invitation wraps and pockets - This year, it is apparent that invitation wraps and pocket folds are bigger than ever. Jacket or pocket fold invitations have either a wrap going around the invitation or a jacket that contains the invitation where the printing is. These jackets give any invitation a feeling of luxury and design. Invitation Consultants features a line of Jacket and Pocket fold invitations, available online now.
  • Houndstooth - The houndstooth pattern is not only big in invitations right now, it is seen often on the fashion runway and in the newest designer lines. Because style for stationery and invitations are related, it is not surprising that houndstooth patterns are gracing invitation styles everywhere. The newest invitations incorporate this design into the invitation pattern or jacket to give it a classic, elegant feel. Please see below for an example of what houndstooth looks like.
  • Black and white with color accent - Using invitations in black and white always conveys classic elegance, so it was no surprise to see an abundance of black and white at the National Stationery Show. What was surprising was that the newest invitations in black and white now have a splash of unexpected color, such as lime or fuchsia. This unexpected twist on the traditional adds a sense of fun to your classic black and white invitation.
  • Paisley and floral designs - The whimsical style of paisley and floral prints is back in a big way this year. Invitation Consultants offers many floral or paisley print invitations, perfect for any occasion. The flower design can be realistic or dreamlike, depending on your taste. These designs add a romantic feel to any invitation, and can be designed in any color imaginable.

The National Stationery Show is a great time to observe the common elements of the newest invitations. The trends displayed at the stationery show mark the coming trends of the newest invitations that will be released soon, so stay tuned for the newest releases from Invitation Consultants!
