Hallowedding: a Halloween Wedding
Planning a wedding can often be a lot of fun and a bit overwhelming. This is especially true for ceremonies with a crazy or fantastic theme. A Halloween wedding, due to its very nontraditional nature, can be one of the trickiest themes to accomplish successfully; there is definitely a right way and a wrong way to go about it. Consider these tips carefully before sending out any invitations.
Tacky is Terrible
When planning a wedding with a holiday type theme, one of the main problems people face is the likelihood that it will become very tacky. Many of the props that you buy in your typical pop-up Halloween stores are very cheap and they look cheap. Spiders, witches and ghosts are not the typical decorations one would expect to see at a nuptial ceremony. So, for your Halloween wedding, be sure to avoid the typical clichés and hideous props that can be associated with this holiday. These types of decorations are just too tacky to take seriously.
A New Twist
Instead of sticking to what people would normally consider as the typical Halloween decor, try putting a little twist on an old classic. Rather than decorating with ghouls and goblins, use pumpkins and gourds. For the centerpieces, maybe place some purple and black candles in a vase of water and surround the bottom of it with fake spider webs and violet flowers. This keeps the theme very much alive yet classy. It lets guests know what the focus is without slamming them in the face with horrible decorations.
It is absolutely possible to make a very nontraditional wedding, such as a Halloween ceremony, seem rather refined and tasteful if done in the right manner. Just keep in mind that sometimes, less is most definitely more, especially when it comes to themed weddings.
