Advance Notice

It is important to make sure the save the dates are sent out in a very timely manner. Generally speaking, people will send these very shortly after the engagement, depending on the situation. In other words, plan to get them in the mail about four to six months before the actual wedding. Some people like to do it even earlier and some later, though too much later would be pretty useless. The real invitations are what should be sent at a closer date to the ceremony.
