Tricks to Planning a 50th Birthday Party
A birthday is something that some people love to celebrate, while others would much rather just keep it on the down low. This is especially true as people get older. Most of them do not enjoy all the hoopla and attention that comes with a birthday party. They would much rather spend the day at home relaxing, watching television, or visiting with good friends. So, how exactly should someone plan a 50th birthday party when the person being celebrated might not want a party at all? Here are some helpful hints to keep the party at a fun, yet not too crazy, level.
Ask First
Before sending 50th birthday invitations, it is important to always ask the individual first. While surprise parties might be a blast for children, many adults are not very excited by that kind of thing. However, if the person is one who loves surprises, there is nothing wrong with a surprise party in that instance. Just be sure to talk to him or her before going crazy with the party plans and invitations, because if the person doesn’t even want a party, there is no point in forcing him or her to have one.
Think Carefully
If the individual does decide that a party would be a fun thing, think very carefully about that person when planning the special day. If he or she is more of the relaxed type, have a few good friends over for some coffee, cake, and cards. If the person loves music or movies, center the theme on something like that. It is important that their party is really all about them.
Laugh a Little
As people grow older, they do not usually like to talk about their age. A fun way to make the day feel light and happy is by laughing. Have guests tell some great “old age” jokes or encourage them to bring funny cards rather than serious ones. This will let the person know he or she is appreciated and loved and still allow him or her to enjoy getting older.
